Bank of China Chairman Meets USSEC and Visa Executives to Expand Cross-Border Cooperation
NewsOn May 14, Ge Haijiao, Chairman of the Board of Bank of China, met separately at the bank’s headquarters in Beijing with delegations led by Mike McCranie, Chairman of the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), and Jim Sutter, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, as well as Ryan McInerney, Global Chief Executive Officer of Visa, and Elaine Chang, President of Visa Greater China.
During the meeting, Chairman Ge and Mr. McCranie participated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Bank of China’s New York Branch and the U.S. Soybean Export Council. Both sides said the successful meeting between the Chinese and U.S. heads of state had injected new momentum into bilateral economic and trade cooperation while also providing greater certainty for the global economy.
Both Chairman Ge and Mr. McCranie noted that China and the United States are among the world’s largest agricultural producers and consumers, with strong foundations and complementary strengths in agricultural cooperation. They pledged to further implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and expand collaboration in areas including cross-border finance, green development, and supply chain services. The goal, they said, is to build a mutually beneficial cooperation ecosystem, promote the sustainable development of the China-U.S. soybean trade supply chain, and support broader agricultural cooperation between the two countries.
In talks with Mr. McInerney and the Visa delegation, both sides described Bank of China and Visa as important strategic partners. They highlighted recent achievements in key product development, cross-border credit card transactions, and improving payment acceptance services for inbound travelers to China.
The two companies expressed expectations for deeper coordination and resource sharing in the future, including enhancing product offerings, strengthening business innovation, improving cross-border financial services, and upgrading payment experiences. They also said they would explore emerging business opportunities together to provide more comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality services to global customers.
