Bank of China New York Branch Hosts 2026 Cross-Border Financial Services Promotion Sessions

In August 2026, Bank of China New York Branch (the "Branch") successfully held its 2026 Cross-Border Financial Services Promotion Sessions in Beijing and Shanghai, marking the ninth consecutive year of the event. More than 70 participants attended the sessions in person or online, including representatives from nearly 30 client institutions, such as financial market infrastructure, policy banks, national joint-stock commercial banks, city commercial banks and asset management companies, as well as colleagues from Bank of China Head Office, Shanghai Headquarters and overseas affiliates. Despite a typhoon passing through Shanghai at the time of the Shanghai session, many client representatives overcame transportation difficulties and attended as scheduled.


Wei Sun, Head of Greater China and Affiliates Team of the Financial Institutions Department, opened the sessions with a review of Bank of China New York Branch's 45-year history in the United States. He introduced the Branch's business scale, its established position in traditional businesses such as USD clearing, and its approach to risk and compliance management, and offered his views on the outlook for the Chinese and U.S. economies against a shifting global backdrop.


The sessions covered a range of topics, including U.S. macroeconomic and banking trends, regulatory and compliance requirements, cross-border products and services, risk management, and financial markets products. Jing Chen, Head of the Strategy and Research Department, provided an overview of the U.S. economic outlook and developments across the banking sector. Siyin Yuan, Manager from the Legal & Compliance Department, covered current U.S. regulatory and compliance requirements. Wei Sun introduced custody and other cross-border services for financial institution clients, while Lingfeng Zhang, BSA Officer of the Financial Institutions Department, shared insights on related risk management considerations. Xu Liu, Head of the Global Markets Department, presented the Branch's financial markets products and services. Participants also engaged in an extended discussion on topics of shared interest.

The events were well received by participants, Head Office and Shanghai Headquarters, providing a valuable forum for industry peers to exchange insights, discuss key issues and explore business opportunities. The Branch will continue to bring together industry peers through similar events, sharing timely market intelligence and in-depth insights with clients.
