Bank of China U.S.A. Continues its Sponsorship of The Juilliard School

News

Bank of China U.S.A. (BOC U.S.A.), the oldest and largest Chinese bank in the U.S., is proud to announce that we will continue our sponsorship of The Juilliard School for the 2022-23 academic year. Launched in 2021 in honor of the Bank’s 40th anniversary of operations in the United States, BOC U.S.A.’s collaboration with Juilliard celebrates our shared commitment to building cross-cultural understanding between the U.S. and China, as exemplified by the recent opening of The Tianjin Juilliard School in China.

The Juilliard School is the premiere educator of the next generation of performing artists, and BOC U.S.A. will once again fund a grant to support Juilliard’s Community Engagement programs in New York City public schools. These impactful initiatives bring free performances and arts education programs to hundreds of elementary school students annually and are essential to Juilliard’s commitment to cultivating global citizen-artistry within the school’s talented student body. BOC U.S.A.’s contribution will help Juilliard serve low- to moderate-income communities across New York City’s five boroughs as part of BOC U.S.A.’s ongoing corporate giving and community reinvestment efforts.

In recognition of this continued support, Juilliard has named BOC U.S.A. as the corporate sponsor of the school’s first-ever live collaborative performance between its New York City and Tianjin campuses on February 6, 2023. The concert will feature student musicians from both campuses performing composer Terry Riley’s minimalist masterpiece In C. A partnership between Juilliard’s Music and Dance divisions and its Center for Innovation in the Arts, the event will welcome in-person audiences on both continents, and virtual viewers from around the world, to experience a one-of-a-kind simultaneous performance. For information on how to purchase tickets or attend the concert in person, please visit Juilliard’s virtual performance calendar (https://www.juilliard.edu/stage-beyond/performance/calendar).

The concert follows Juilliard and BOC U.S.A.’s 2021 production of Little Folk-Song Serenade, an original virtual project that featured six students, three from each of Juilliard’s two campuses, to perform a new arrangement of traditional Chinese folk songs. The video, which premiered as part of BOC U.S.A.’s anniversary celebration in November 2021, can be enjoyed via Juilliard’s YouTube Channel.
