News

This month, Bank of China U.S.A. (BOC U.S.A.), recognized as the oldest and largest Chinese bank in the United States, had the distinct honor of sponsoring the prestigious Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series: Juilliard and Tianjin Juilliard Joint Faculty Recital. This collaboration not only highlighted the exceptional musical talent cultivated by The Juilliard School, but also underscored BOC U.S.A.'s enduring commitment to fostering cultural exchange and collaboration between the U.S. and China.

This event marked yet another milestone in BOC U.S.A.'s history of supporting groundbreaking collaborations between Juilliard's two campuses. Our journey with Juilliard began in 2021 with the virtual project "Little Folk-Song Serenade" and continued in 2023 with a live hybrid concert performance of Terry Riley’s "In C." These initiatives have been instrumental in bridging the gap between Juilliard's New York City campus and The Tianjin Juilliard School, reinforcing our shared dedication to artistic excellence and cross-cultural understanding. The symphony of our cooperation with The Juilliard School will undoubtedly continue to resonate within our communities, echoing the timeless words of Hans Christian Andersen, “Where words fail, music speaks.” The Bank of China remains committed to supporting the transformative power of music as we compose this magnificent opus with dedication, innovation, and the shared vision that music can indeed bring people together, creating harmony in a world that often seems divided.

In addition to our support for musical collaborations, Bank of China’s Tianjin branch has provided invaluable support to The Tianjin Juilliard School through a multi-year sponsorship. This support has facilitated the growth and development of the institution, further strengthening ties between Juilliard's campuses in China and the U.S.

The Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series not only showcased the exceptional talent of Juilliard and Tianjin Juilliard faculty members, but also emphasized our commitment to community engagement and arts education. As part of our sponsorship, BOC U.S.A. once again funded a grant to support Juilliard’s Community Engagement programs in New York City public schools. These impactful initiatives bring free performances and arts education programs to hundreds of elementary school students annually, enriching their lives and fostering global citizen-artistry within Juilliard's student body.

Moreover, the joint faculty recital celebrated the rich cultural heritage of both the U.S. and China, promoting cross-cultural exchange and collaboration. The concert featured an array of captivating performances, including works by Chen Yi, Penderecki, Mozart, and Schubert, captivating audiences and exemplifying the power of music to transcend boundaries.

The success of the Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series serves as a testament to the enduring partnership between BOC U.S.A. and Juilliard. We are proud to continue supporting initiatives that promote cultural exchange, artistic excellence, and community enrichment, and we look forward to further collaboration in the future building bridges between our two great nations and nurturing the next generation of musical talent.
