COVID-19 Updates

Notice of Midtown Branch Reopen (Effective June 22, 2020)

Dear Customer,

We are glad to notify you that we have reopen the retail banking floor of the New York Branch (“BOCNY”) (1045 Ave. of the Americas New York, NY 10018) on June 22nd, with extensive protective measures in place to ensure the safety of its customers and employees. All services will be available including account opening, account maintenance, wire transfers and all other normal banking services.

All persons in the branch lobby will be required, per state guidelines, to wear a mask. Upon entering, you will be greeted by a BOCNY staff member to help guide you to the appropriate area for assistance. You will find hand-sanitizing stations at the lobby entrance. We ask that you to use these stations before and after your transactions to help protect yourself and the greater community. At this time, we also will try to limit the number of people in the branch at any one time to ensure six-foot distancing between you and other customers or staff members, so you may need to wait outside if necessary. Please also remember not to shake hands or have other physical contact during your visits. Finally, if you feel ill, have a fever, and/or have recently been exposed to someone with COVID-19, we ask that you avoid in-person visits.

We also encourage you to access your accounts from home, by using online banking to check your account balance, transfer funds, view and download your statements. This service is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

We will continue to monitor and implement orders and directives issued by Federal, State and local governmental authorities, and follow guidance and advisories from the CDC, WHO and other state/local public health authorities, to do our part in mitigating the risks of a second wave of COVID-19.

Please contact customer service at 212-935-3101 or 212-923-2355 if you have any questions. You can also email us at [email protected]

Thank you in advance for your understanding. We wish you and your family continued safety and good health.

Notice of Financial Relief Program during COVID-19

Dear Customers,

Here at Bank of China U.S.A. we pride ourselves on our longstanding history of caring for the people and communities in which we operate. Like you, we continue to watch the news related to COVID-19 and its impact in the U.S. and around the world.  As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, we are evaluating measures to provide support, and offer assistance to our impacted customers in the U.S. As new developments emerge, we will share information with you about how we plan to safely, and effectively continue assisting you.

1. Our retail customers impacted by COVID-19 may be eligible for fee waiver assistance of some services appearing on their March, April and May statements. We take this opportunity to inform you that we waived the March Account Maintenance fee to all our retail customers; and remind you that, if you are in need for cash, you can access other banks’ ATMs, and we will refund limited fees billed by other banks to your account.

2. We are also providing assistance programs for eligible customers, including collection forbearance programs (e.g. residential mortgage). Since these programs are assessed on a need basis, kindly consult with your banker for eligibility. Such assistance may include:

  • Payment Deferrals
  • Fee Waivers
  • Extension/Modification of Repayment Terms

We are committed to supporting you during this difficult time and as always appreciate your loyalty as a valued customer. If you have been impacted by COVID-19 and would like to discuss your available options, please contact customer service at 212-935-3101 or 212-923-2355. You can also email us at [email protected] with any questions and we will have the appropriate employee contact you. Please be advised that if you are unable to make payments due to financial hardship resulting from COVID-19, failure to contact the bank in a timely manner could result in the unnecessary designation of your account as past due or delinquent.

Again, we want to assure you that we will continue to assess the situation on a daily basis to determine extension or expansion of available assistance. We are committed to standing with you during these challenging times by continuing to meet your financial needs with the same level of efficiency and quality you have been receiving from us over the past 40 years here in the U.S.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. From all of us here at Bank of China, we hope you and your love ones remain safe and healthy.

Our Commitment: An Update to Our Customers on Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Here at Bank of China U.S.A. we pride ourselves on our longstanding history of caring for the people and communities in which we operate. Like you, we continue to watch the news related to COVID-19 and its impact in the U.S. and around the world. I wanted to personally update you on the proactive steps we are taking to maintain the health and wellbeing of our employees, clients and customers, as well as ensuring business continuity during this unprecedented time.

I have been working closely with our executive management team in the U.S. and in China over the past two months to address the impact of the virus head on, and we have undertaken important precautionary measures in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO) and other health authorities, to ensure our policies and procedures meet or exceed their guidelines to help protect our employees, clients and customers.

Immediately following the first reports of a possible COVID-19 outbreak in China, Bank of China U.S.A.’s crisis management team acted with vigilance and initiated a comprehensive risk monitoring and information-sharing program. This included proactively adopting early measures to mitigate the risks of contracting and spreading the virus. These measures include implementing a ban on travel to affected countries overseas, restricting non-essential domestic travel, encouraging “social-distancing” through online meetings and calls, revising our work from home policy, implementing 14-day quarantine periods for potentially exposed employees, as well as enhanced daily cleaning and disinfecting of our facilities. In addition, we have also been in frequent contact with the banking regulators and have taken steps to activate our contingency plans to ensure business continuity, including but not limited to, activating remote access capabilities and other continuity plans for critical operations.

We are committed to supporting you during this difficult time and as always appreciate your loyalty as a valued customer. Our retail branches remain open, however out of an abundance of caution for our customers, staff and the community, until further notice, we will not be offering weekend in-person bank services at our Queens Branch. We typically experience higher foot traffic during weekend banking hours, and we believe this measure will help mitigate any risks of spreading the virus. At this time, we encourage our customers and clients to utilize our online banking services on weekends during the affected period. If you have any questions or require assistance, please reach out to your relationship manager or call the following number (212) 925-2355.

Again, we want to assure you that Bank of China U.S.A. will continue to assess the situation on a daily basis and update and share guidance for all of our stakeholders so we can successfully navigate this period of global uncertainty together.
