Corporate Social Responsibility

Here at Bank of China U.S.A. (BOC U.S.A.), we are dedicated to supporting local organizations that bring people together and make a meaningful difference.

Global Bank, Local Heart

As a global bank with a local heart, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is ingrained in everything Bank of China (BOC) does as an institution, from how we interact with our clients and employees, to how we operate within and support our local communities.

Our CSR programs are guided by BOC’s commitment to be a responsible corporate citizen and to serve our communities, customers, shareholders, employees and the environment in order to create more economic value and improve people’s lives.

All of BOC U.S.A.’s branches are dedicated to supporting local communities and organizations through various initiatives, which bring people together to create a positive impact on the environment, society and the communities we serve. By embracing both top-down and bottom-up engagement, the causes and events we support showcase our extensive employee volunteerism, community lending and investments, as well as charitable giving programs.

Charitable Contributions

BOC U.S.A. partners with community leaders and organizations such as TruFund, Cents Ability, and the Jump$tart Coalition to provide financial education in innovative ways. Our support for these kinds of programs and courses reflects our mission to reach and empower members of the communities we serve.

We maintain an enduring tradition of proudly supporting a variety of local philanthropic organizations and events, including, but not limited to:

  • ASPIRA
  • Big Brothers and Big Sisters of New York
  • Cents Ability
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Jump$tart Coalition

We also support local organizations and events dedicated to enriching cultural ties between the U.S. and China, including the CGCC Foundation, Asian Americans for Equality, Chinatown Healthcare Clinic Foundation and the Sino-U.S. Business Leaders Roundtable.

Community Service

We invest our time in our communities’ underserved and underprivileged youth. Our staff are mentors in Bank of China’s Big Brothers Big Sister Workplace Mentor Program, which continued with remote sessions throughout the COVID-19 crisis.

Beyond our long-standing commitment to local and national philanthropic organizations, BOC U.S.A. stands ready to step in, partner, and assist our community and healthcare systems, especially during the pandemic. In 2020, in response to the escalating COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S., we donated more than 130,000 pieces of personal protective equipment for health care workers, front-line responders and other essential personnel to assist their efforts to combat the virus.  More information on this contribution can be found in the press release here

We also increased contributions to local hospitals and foundations including:
